How could I teach him to grow a thicker skin?
So sometimes I'd let him draw his biggest enemy on a piece of paper. We'd glue it to a board and go outside. Out there, with all his might, he'd spend a few minutes throwing clay at the board. That was a way to get the anger and frustration out of his system.
Now, since he came back from summer vacation he has started talking in chat-language:
O EM GEE (OMG), EL O EL (LOL), BEE AR BEE (BRB), X DEE (XD). No more anger or frustration, no more joy either. Just flat chat-language.
So I asked him to think up the next assignment for his art therapy sessions. Maybe, by checking inside himself to see what he would feel like doing, he could start getting back in touch with his feelings. He asked to make a mask. So we did. When it was finished I asked him if he wanted to decorate it. And he did. But instead of a mouth..
he painted XD XD XD.
Now I'm even more worried :(
